Pricing questions
How much do caregivers usually charge?
Hourly rates depend on location, experience and the type of help. According to the Genworth and CareScout Cost of Care Survey, the U.S. national median for a home health aide was about $34 per hour in 2024, and many metro areas are higher. Caregivers on CaregiverCrew set their own rates, so compare profiles in your area.
Will Medicare pay for this?
Generally, no. Original Medicare does not cover long-term non-medical help such as companionship or help with bathing when that is the only care you need. Some Medicaid programs, Medicare Advantage plans, long-term care insurance policies and VA benefits may help with in-home support. Check with the program or insurer directly.
Is there a membership or subscription?
No. There are no monthly plans for families or caregivers.
Who pays taxes on caregiver earnings?
Caregivers are independent and handle their own taxes. Families who hire a caregiver directly for regular work may have household employer obligations; the IRS explains these in Publication 926. A tax professional can help you understand your situation.
